Have a “halwa” time with this great recipe courtesy of Once Again foods. Halwa is a type of sweet dessert found in many varieties across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. In this version, Once Again combines the smoothness of Organic Tahini and the sweetness their Dawes Hill Killer Bee Pure Raw Organic Honey, watermelon, banana, cilantro, and other spices to create an exotic smoothie bursting with exciting East meets West flavor. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped seedless watermelon
  • 1/2 cup frozen banana slices
  • 1/2 cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp packed cilantro leaves
  • 1 tbsp Once Again Organic Tahini
  • 1 tsp Once Again Dawes Hill Killer Bee Pure Raw Organic Honey
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 generous pinch ground cardamom

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and purée until smooth.
  2. Serve immediately in a chilled glass.

Note: It is important to use frozen bananas in this recipe since there is no added ice. The watermelon provides lots of liquid so adding ice will result in a thin smoothie. Keep a bag of frozen banana slices on hand for quick and creamy smoothies.
