Sesame oil and soy sauce give this steamed spinach an Asian flare. Garlic and green onion are added for even more flavor. This sauce, which could stand as a marinade on its own, adds a punch of flavor to the otherwise bland spinach. This is great as a side or enjoyed on top of eggs or baked potatoes.

  • 1/2 lb spinach
  • 1 stalk green onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (diced)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon Emile Noel Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds

  1. Bring a pot of water with 1 teaspoon of salt to a boil.
  2. Blanch the spinach for 30 seconds and remove spinach to a cold bowl of water.
  3. Gently squeeze water from spinach and cut into two inch sections (or thereabouts).
  4. Mix diced garlic, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and green onions in a bowl.
  5. Add spinach to sauce and mix.
  6. Sprinkle on sesame seeds and serve. Makes a great side for grilled meats, chicken and fish.
