This recipe is a great excuse to skip the long wait list and expensive restaurant bill but still enjoy the fun of shabu shabu. This noodle soup has lots of flavor with ginger sesame dipping sauce.


  • 2/3 cup the ginger people Ginger Sesame Sauce
  • 6 cups organic vegetable or chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp. the ginger people Grated Ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 bunch green onions, trimmed and cut into 1-inch lengths
  • 1/2 small Napa cabbage, shredded
  • 6 ounces shiitake mushrooms, stemmed and quartered
  • 2 to 3 carrots, peeled and cut into matchstick-pieces
  • 1 package LightLife Smart Strips – Steak
  • 1 8-oz. package Lightlife Organic Soy Tempeh, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 6 oz. Udon noodles


  1. Divide Ginger Sesame Sauce among individual small bowls; set aside. In large pot, combine broth, water, grated ginger, garlic, green onions, cabbage, mushrooms, and carrots; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes or until vegetables are just tender.
  3. Add Smart Strips “Steak”, tempeh and noodles; cook until heated through and noodles are tender, about 5 more minutes.
  4. Divide among soup bowls. Serve with Ginger Sesame Sauce for dipping.
