Kid-Pleasing Mac and Cheese

This recipe is so good the kids will love it, but the adults will too. The addition of cottage cheese and sour cream make it very creamy and the flavors become more complex when adding the parmesan and shredded cheddar cheeses. The smooth creamy texture is easy to love. This one will have everyone at the table asking for seconds.


  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni, fusilli or other small pasta
  • 8 ounces Horizon Organic shredded cheddar cheese
  • 12 ounces Horizon Organic cottage cheese
  • 8 ounces Horizon Organic sour cream
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Tips: For a crunchy topping, mix together 1 cup dry bread crumbs and 1/4 cup Horizon Organic butter, melted.
  2. Sprinkle over pasta mixture before baking.
  3. And you can add peas to sneak in more vegetables.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°.
  5. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil, add pasta and cook until done.
  6. Drain.
  7. In a 9x13-inch baking dish, stir together the pasta, shredded cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper.
  8. Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
