Enjoy an old American tradition with a new twist. These light, fluffy Johnny Cakes made with MaraNatha® All-Natural Coconut Butter are a delicious piping hot breakfast or the perfect dinner accompaniment.


  • 3/4 cups Arrowhead Mills® Organic Yellow Corn Meal
  • 2tbl MaraNatha® All-Natural Coconut Butter, softened
  • 2tbl Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp Hain® Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Hain® Turbinado Sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water


  1. In a bowl combine the butter, cornmeal, salt and sugar.
  2. Add the boiling water and stir until well combined.
  3. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  4. Melt half the butter and coconut butter together in a heavy bottomed skillet over a medium high heat.
  5. Add 1/4 cup full’s of the batter to the pan, smooth the tops slightly and cook until golden brown on each side or just cooked through bout 3-5 minutes per side.
  6. Repeat with remaining butters and batter.
  • Top with your favorite toppings. (We love blueberries & coconut pieces!)
