The Trick-less Treat

You may find this hard to believe, but I am a proud survivor of false allergies.  As curious as it sounds, the presumption that all of my older brother’s allergies would hold true for myself was enough to influence the first sixteen years of my life.  So, in blissful ignorance, I feared the contamination of all peanuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts, and any other nut-related product until the fateful allergy test that told me otherwise.  I was bitterly excited to learn on that monumental day that nuts posed no threat whatsoever to my diet, but to steer clear of shellfish.

Wouldn’t it have been nice though, to have had an alternative option during those dark, restrictive years of my childhood when my friends embraced a classic PB & J sandwich and the legendary peanut butter cup?  The amount of willpower and due diligence it took to avoid these common childhood treats was overwhelming- especially during Halloween season!  Looking back now, I am amazed that I avoided these so-called “allergens” as well as I did, but I would have given anything for a product line like Sun Cups.
