Take a Break …Eat Organic!

As a nurse, it is my job to make sure all of my patients get 3 square meals per day. With 12-hour long shifts, the case is not so true when it comes to my own diet. I’m lucky if I even get a bathroom break! You’ll often catch me at the nurses’ station taking bites of whatever is available, and most of the time it’s unhealthy, unsubstantial foods.

Determined to find a better alternative, I headed to the grocery store to fill my cart with easy grab-and-go bars I could stash away at work and came across CLIF Kit’s Organic bars. And all I could think was, “Yes!”

I have been on a gradual climb to eating organic and reading labels (slow and steady definitely wins this race!). What I found most important was being able to recognize all the ingredients in the item I was eating. That is not such an easy task, but thankfully, CLIF Kit’s Organic made it so. Their ingredient list was not only short and sweet, but it was made up of all my favorite things! Made with no artificial ingredients and all USDA Certified Organic, I knew I was on to something.

My new dietary restrictions have cut out a lot of my old favorite foods, so I was thrilled to see these bars were gluten free, soy free and dairy free. They are also naturally sweetened with dates, apricots, cherries and other fruits, so while I indulge in part of my daily fruit requirements, I have no guilt about excess sugar.

Their Dark Chocolate Chili Almond is a favorite of mine. The combination of unsweetened dark chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla beans blends wonderfully with a nice kick of cayenne pepper to throw your taste buds through a whole new loop. It even helps satisfy my sweet tooth! And the added almonds hold me over until my next meal.

CLIF Kit’s Organic has definitely become a staple in my diet. My only worry now is how to hide these from my co-workers!
